I’ve found an editor! Or more accurately,. I’ve found two. First you need a developmental editor, who looks at the narrative arc of the entire book, and who suggests cuts or additional chapters to make this clearer. Then you need a copy editor, who tells you that you’re using speech marks and semi colons wrong. My new content editor is starting work on DIRTY on 22nd August, and anticipates it taking around three weeks. Which means I have around six weeks to make my manuscript as editor friendly as possible.
Editors charge by the word, so I’m going to use that time to take anything that feels extraneous out of the manuscript before anyone I’m paying has to read it. The first passage I’ve found that I think can be cut is this, so I thought I’d share it with you before it disappears forever.
In it, I’m writing about shooting selfie sets outdoors, and what happened to me the year before when I tried to shoot on Gran Canaria and became besieged by horny men.
